Marylu,

I sent this to the top for you. :-) I believe the thread you were trying to find is, "Why we believe Mother Mary rose to Heaven".

God bless you

Jake, did I or anyone else mention that, by going to the right place at the EWTN site [after you have downloaded (free) the right software], you can listen to WEWN (EWTN radio) through the Internet. I'm not sure if you can actually view the TV shows through the Internet, though.

If anyone has a chance to watch The Journey Home, tonight 7/29 at 8 p.m. ET (or it's subsequent rebroadcasts listed above) it has a very interesting guest, Fr. David Medow. I won't say more, because I don't want to spoil it, but I think that you will find it interesting and enjoyable.

Yes, you can watch it through the Internet. I do all the time. It's great. I'll be watching tonight for Journey Home. You've got my curiosity up!

Thanks CK

Hi Gail,

I hope that you got a chance to watch the show. Unfortunately I have not seen it yet!!! AGH!!! I did tape it, but due to family issues in my husband's family and other committments, I haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it yet. I talked with a good friend of Fr. Medow's today, and she said that it was very good.

Basically the story is that he was a married Lutherin pastor who became a Catholic priest. And yes, he is still married. He received permission directly from our Pope, John Paul II. It is a very interesting and moving journey that he has been on.

If anyone saw the program and would like to share their thoughts, please do so, I would love to chat with you about it. I hope to watch the program in the next day and will also post my thoughts.

Hey CK:

You can view it on-line through EWTN. Click on Journey Home Past Audio Shows, though it may not be available until next week. But I've watched dozens of "Past" shows that way. It was a good story. I love that program because I can relate so much to the stories of conversion from Protestantism!

Love,

Gail

Hey guys and gals,

My parents recently got a dish (which includes EWTN). This is truly an awesome station. Now we just need to get rid of MTV and the like and we will be happy campers.

In Christ.

Jake ,

As on every satellitereceiver you can delete every TV-channel you want to , go the menu and search for the delete button !! __ But why get rid of MTV ???? __ Here , via satellite , we also can get EWTN in 2 versions in the KU-band , I deleted both versions on my receiver , sorry , not my cup of tea , you know why ; besides , I do this with every channel I never will watch , I only have space for 2500 channels on C / KU-band !! __ MTV is also not my fave program , I'll never watch it , except when they show metal videos !!

If you wanna know which not encrypted Northern American satellite TV channels are available in the USA , click: free tv in North America by satellite !!

There are of course more satellites you can receive , check the whole listings:

America Atlantic Europe Asia

Tip: watch the beams , very important !!!!!!!!

Thanks Laurent!

You wanted to know "But why get rid of MTV"? Well, there are a couple reasons:

I really actually DO like some of the songs that are out (usually the earlier songs - most of the latest songs are all just about sex or violence etc.).

The #1 reason MTV is on my DO NOT list is because of its overwhelming support of the abuse of young ladies.

The videos themselves are nothing less than soft porn - but the programs are even worse (i.e. spring break...).

We will never get rid of abortion if we don't start at the root - illicit and extra-marital sex. And by showing and supporting young women who wear next to nothing, they are also directly supporting sex, rape, abortion, sexism, domestic violence, and the list goes on!

I caught a bit of the MTV music awards (other family members had taken control of the TV), and I saw Pink (nice name, eh) receive an award - to which she said "I'm too drunk for this.." and the crowed applauded. Then Christina Aguilera came up to give an award and with her ridiculously cheesy outfit which barely supported her upper body - I thought for sure she would "pop out". And I couldn't help but think of all the pre-teens and teens watching her and thinking how cool it would be to dress like that, or to get drunk.

It literally made me sick to see how degenerated our youth has become. And how truly sad it is that these superstars with all their millions cannot educate themselves enough to see that they have an effect on people (good or bad).

Therefore, I will not support MTV.

To tell you the truth, Laurent, I am slowly fading out English music all together. Most of my CD's are Spanish rock. You would be surprised, but the music is a lot more tastefull and (in my opinion anyway) has much better and more unique beats.

Try - Carlos Vives, Shakira's older music (although she has sold out to the American lie), Celia Cruz, Mana, Enrique Iglesia (also the older stuff is better).

To get us back on the topic - it's too bad that you un-plugged EWTN. I know that you don't like the religion thing, but there are quite a few programs that are beneficial. The lives of the saints is one thing! The program doesn't talk about the Bible directly, but focuses more on the extraordinary lives of these people. And I know that you like sci-fi. If you listened to the lives of some of the Saints you would think that it was right out of a sci-fi story, but these are real, documented, and verifiable accounts! You don't need to watch EWTN to learn about Catholicism. You can also watch some of the programs, like the ones that I mentioned, for simply enjoyment.

Well, thanks again for your response - you are an inspiration to me, just the way that you are.

In Christ.
