Citizen Spy's

The Justice Department is expected to launch a pilot program in New York and other cities in August to train private citizens to be the "extra eyes and ears for law enforcement" in the war on terrorism. Millions of Americans, including truck drivers, bus drivers, train conductors, mail carriers, utility readers, ship captains, and port personnel will be trained to monitor "suspicious activity."

"Historically, informant systems have been the tools of non-democratic states," reported Ritt Goldstein in the Sydney Morning Herald, which compared the program to the use of civilian informants by East Germany's Stasi secret police. Until a critical editorial in the Washington Post on July 14, little notice has been taken of this expansion of the 'war on terror' through informants, with the exception of two reports by investigative journalist Bill Berkowitz

I don't know how well this will work in New York. In New York city there are alot of Italian Buisness men who don't tolerate sniches. Maybe they should start here in Tennessee. You can't do anything here without the whole neighborhood knowing about it.

Sounds like legalized stalking, peeping tomism and trespassing. Invasion of privacy by little brother and little sister. Privacy? the greatest of all sins I guess. have a day

As I see it, laws, that are made by the rich, have secrete escape hatches, that only high paid Lawyers can find. As far as citizen spys ,Think of it as a buisness oppitunity.Try to convince people who are worried about getting caught doing some illegal activity, that you will act suspicious, for a small fee, so while the newly trained spys are watching you, they can conduct buisness as usual. Don't be surprised if you here George say , "This could create a new service in a continue-ing troubled economy".

SM Steve: >>>"Think of it as a buisness oppitunity."<<< ?????????

What kind of business oppurtunity is this? Spy on your neighbor for big bucks? I am flabbergasted that this is going where it is going.

Socialists on the one wing and fascists on the other wing. You know I would rahther have my own set of wings and fly on my own with out your "wings" to help me.

Modern day "brown shirts" indeed. Soon you will be spouting that "slavery is freedom and freedom is slavery." Perhaps you should read some works called "1084" or "animal farm"
