"Victor Sikora is not damaged."

Fascinating type-o... His hamstring, I meant. Victor Sikora's hamstring is not damaged. Which means, coming to think of it, that Sikora himself is not damaged, in a way. It wasn't a type-o after all :-)

Victor Sikora is not damaged. Just a little over-stretched. He joined the squad to Valencia today (they have safely arrived), injured, but with a fair chance to be fit for tomorrow's game.

At a board meeting of Ajax-USA subsidiary, Ajax - UK, the points Menno raised about Sikora were discussed and it was felt that from our point of view Sikora hasnt really done that badly. We grant you that he certainly hasnt set the world on fire but his progress has been steady over the last few weeks and we feel he brings a balance to the team.

Whilst not agreeing with the ruling classes on this one we certainly will not be declaring independence nor will we throw any tea overboard in Maldon harbour ;-)

Victor Sikora has sustained a hamstring injury in the game against SC Heerenveen and is doubtful for Wednesday's game in Valencia. An MRI scan of his hamstring will be made. If there is something wrong, Sikora will stay at home and Ajax will travel to Valencia with a squad of 19 players.

I couldn't really care. Sikora has been absolutely horrible for weeks. He works hard, but seems to do everything wrong when he (or Ajax) is in possession of the ball.

I am in favour of a 4-4-2 anyway. I would prefer Maxwell or Van der Vaart as the left midfielder, or even Boukhari. Sikora is simply not good enough at this point.

Footballnl.com, in a write-up dated 8/25,stated:"it is also possible that Sikora's illness is not the only reason for his absence as it appears he may have received personal threats(possibly related to the fact that it will be his first appearance against his old club?!)".The quotation marks are mine not the articles.I sincerely hope and pray that this is a prime example of "journalistic " irresponsibility and not close to the truth. These days, and given the outrages perpetrated against Frank Rijkaard and Bert van Marwijk, who the heck knows?

I will answer with a question. Is Victor Sikora the new Marc Overmars because i saw him only inthe game vs Man United and i was amazed.

Not an easy day at the office for Victor yesterday, especially after he got booked. Vreven is not the easiest of players to handle at the best of times and Sikora's restraint was admirable in the face of the intimidation meated out by the mad-dog. I dont think that I could have kept my cool for so long - so hats off to Victor and as so often happens the forces of good come through to defeat the black-side of life in the last chapter.

Ajax didn't really have players with balls, with courage. But know a fast winger has entered the Amsterdam Arena: Victor Sikora. Sikora doesn't run from a duel, and gives 100% every match. So Koeman thanks for this excellent signing! And Sikora show us some fine actions like you always do okay? C ya in the Amsterdam Arena

If last night's performance is any harbinger of things to come; the soap opera and waiting game it took to sign Victor Sikora were well worth it. He played great. He helped set the mood for the game thru tireless wing play, excellent defense and back-tracking to win the ball, a hard shot just wide (Ajax first at Barthez), and a poachers skill on the first goal. #27 in the program .Opponents beware!

Very difficult to judge on such a hot day and against such opponents (and after a few beers). He appeared, even on this hot day to be very fast and had good control but lacked that little bit of match sharpness. However, thought his second half contribution was greater than Wamberto's in the first half. As to marks out of 10, I would give him a 6 but with the expectation that this will rise to 8's & 9's in the coming weeks.

Can anyone who saw the Norwich game rate Sikora for me on a scale of 1 to 10. Am interested to know if he's as "good" as Wamberto, since I've never seen him play before.
