Today, August 6, we members of the Catholic Church family celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord.
We also honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Gezelin (German, hermit)
Pope St. Hormisdas (Italian, widower, father of Pope St. Silverius, deacon, elected to papacy in 514, reigned until death in 523)
St. James of Amida (Syrian, hermit, c. 501)
Sts. Justus and Pastor (Spanish, children [aged 13 and 9], scourged and martyred by beheading in 304)
Bl. Maria Francesca of Jesus [baptized Anna Maria Rubatto] (Italian, Superior General of Capuchin sisters, missionary to the Americas, died in Uruguay in 1904 [beatified 1993])
Bl. Octavianus of Savona (French, Benedictine monk in Italy, bishop, d. 1132)
St. Schetzelon (hermit in Germany, d. 1141)
St. Stephen of Cardeña and more than 200 companions (Spanish, Benedictine abbot and monks, martyred by Moslems in 872)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
