Worst Casting Mistakes Ever!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Some of the comments over on the Skinwalkers thread got me to thinking. What in your opinion have been the worst casting mistakes on TV or the movies?

My #1 nomination would be Tom Cruise as Lestat in "Interview With the Vampire". Poor Anne Rice, they ruined her book.

I'm also very unhappy with some casting news I just learned this weekend. Michael Clarke Duncan has been cast to play Kingpin in the new Daredevil movie. Granted, he's got the size, but Kingpin is Italian. It's kind of like casting James Earl Jones to play Brando's part in "The Godfather"

Good God, Sherri! I thought your post said "Worm Casting Mistakes"! Wonder if Lens Crafters is open after nine?

Somewhere, years ago, I saw a TV program that revealed the first proposal to play Butch Cassidy (ultimately played by Paul Newman) -- Jack Lemmon! EWWWWWWWWW!

I have since forgotten who was proposed for The Sundance Kid, but it was just as ridiculous! Imagine, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, without Newman and Redford! SHUDDER!

George Bush as President? Oh, that's right, that's *real*. LOL Okay, I had to sneak it in over here, since I'm not participating (currently) in the other Bush Bash at BTS! 8-)

I think Clint Eastwood as the guy in Bridges of Madison County was pretty funny...but not as funny as Meryl Streep as the wife he had the affair with. What were they thinking?

Coulda been worse sheepish . . . how about Jack Klugman and Roseanne Barr for BOMC? I'd have brought a flamethrower to the theater for that one :^).

As long as I get to be silly here:

How about The Matrix (1977 version) with John Travolta as Neo, Charles Bronson as Morpheus, and Cher as Trinity?
