I think that they have end-of-year blowout sales where you can get two non-Catholic annulments for the price of one. It's a buyer's market. Sign up for a Catholic Charge-card, and you'll get your first annulment at a 10% discount.

Seriously, Danielle, what is your motivation for asking this question? More fundamentally, do you know what an annulment is?

Enjoy,

Mateo

Why is marriage supposed to be "easy" to get out of? Isn't it supposed to be "till death do you part"? If it is so easy, then why even *commit*? It seems to me that some people just want the bennefits of marriage (like shared insurance - or divorce payouts). Urrrr!!!!!

It is just amazing to me how many people go into marriage already expecting a divorce (or annulment). Pre-numps SICKEN me. What the heck, you might as well fill out the divorce forms at the same time as the matrimony forms ("less of a hassle" - right?). This is HOLY MATRIMONY we are talking about! "What God has brought together, let NO man tear apart"! If there are any concerns, then DONT do it!

Sorry, I just had to vent. Marriage is very serious to me, and when others (approximately 50% of the US) make light of it, it offends me (and I'm sure much less than it offends God).

Dear Mary, our Mother, pray that we might come to know the importance of Holy Matrimony and how it reflects our Marriage in Heaven. St. John Francis pray for us. St. Valentine, pray for us. St. Joseph, the most chaste spouse of Mary, pray for us. Amen.

In Christ.

Hey, you never answered my question in the other thread, but I'll let you off the hook.

I for one am very confused for I have never heard of an anullment costing monies. Where have I been these 40 years?? I thought they were part of the ministry of the Chancellor's Office.

"Where have I been for the past forty years"?

I ofter wander that my self Mr. Bouchard. :-) Maybe they request a donation if one can afford to pay.

I believe they ask for a donation as an annulment does involve a considerable amount of time for the canon lawyers. If you think about it, with the number of divorces in the western societies, there are many priests whose sole duty is to make these decisions. Someone needs to pay their living costs.

P.S. In order to avoid confusion, I have changed my email address to be more recognizable as invalid.

By the way, why is everyone assuming Danielle Jas. is thinking of the future? Perhaps she is wondering about getting a decree of Nullity for a past marriage and is concerned about the cost?
