recovery after THR and pain controlgreenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread |
I am at day 14 post-op w/ a non-cemented THR and have had continuous pain (6-9 on a scale of 10) greater than before operation. Analgesic prescribed by doc is totally inadequate [total of 40 7.5 mg Lortab, to be taken every 4-6 hrs., no refills.]. I do not put weight on foot, but was told to gradually increase walking time w/ walker. No fever, no swelling below thigh. Is this kind of pain to be expected? Any support group URLs that you can send? Thanks!

Sorry to be late with this answer. Hope your pain has settled.Different individuals respond differently to surgery and pain medication requirements may vary widely between individuals.
I am not aware of any acute pain support groups. Discuss pain managment with your doctor.
