Our New Zeland bucks hair is falling out, is it shedding or what?

Well, they do shed when it's hot, and then put on a heavier coat in the cold months. But, is it coming out in clumps - like leaving bald spots? Is his skin scaly? That could be a sign of mites. If it's just thinning out, and he's not scratching, I wouldn't worry about it a bit - probably just shedding. If he's scratching a lot and has bald spots, especially with sore scaly skin - you've got a problem!
