Cool! I'll bet there's quite a story behind how you got them to sell you that car . . . just guessing from one of your posts a few days ago.

I'm so happy to read that you've got a good car! It's really wearing to never know when you're dealing with a vehicle whether you're going to get somewhere or not or whether something expensive is going to break down in the near future.

This car has so much on it. Memory settings for two on the driver's seat, and the memory includes the two power side mirrors which are heated.

The driver's seat even moves back automatically so you can get out easier, and then moves forward to last used settings when you get in.

Both front seats are heated. Inside is leather. Nice simulated burl wood on dash areas. CD player, automatic climate control, a little computer thing that tells you how many miles you have in the gas tank, how far you've driven during the latest trip, your average speed for the latest trip, outside temperature sensor which seems to show the temp with respect to the wind as you drive and the heat of the car as you idle. LOL

We are spoiled now with this truly decedant automobile.

If you use the keybob to unlock the car, then hold down the unlock button for three seconds more, the driver's window opens automatically to let the hot air escape. The volkswagons will do all the windows with the key which I think is better.

A few design flaws here.

The doors do not lock automatically when you put the car in gear. Dad's buick does that and I like that feature. We aren't used to driving around with all the doors unlocked and so we forget to lock them after we get in. In our other car and truck it's usually only the driver's door that is unlocked as we tend to drive alone most of the time.

The windshield washer fixtures are on the hood and don't seem to have much pressure. They dribble on the hood. They should be on the wiper arms, instead.

The antenna is on the back window with the defroster. This makes it imperative that the window be cleaned carefully so as to not damage either with hard scrubbing or chemical abrasion. Seems to me these things should be in the window, and not on the inside of the glass. I wonder what the window film would do to them. We want to have the windows tinted as soon as we can find a decent tinter.

The little change holder thingy is in the back of the center armrest, and awkward place to access for coins for the tollways. I am using the little drawer under the radio a/c control panel instead.

The horn is cute. sort of a European sound? Like a fiat or something. Not too loud, though. The alarm siren isn't too loud either. Oh yeah, it has a built in alarm. We are having a lojack installed Friday morning. Was Thursday but turns out my doctor's appointment is Thursday morning and not today as I was told.

it also would be nice if the interior lights came on when you 'keybobbed' to unlock the car at night. Not sure if they do or not, actually. Haven't had to do that in the dark yet. LOL

The inside lights fade out after you close the doors and start the car. That's cool.

Also, each seat has it's own reading light, and the back seat has an armrest with storage compartment in the center complete with cup holders.

The lighter in the back is in the back of the front console under the a/c vents for the backseat, and the ashtrays are on each door.

The backseat also folds down 60/40 so someone can still sit in back while you haul long items in the large trunk. the trunk is carpeted like most trunks are these days. My toyota was, also.

One of the reviews we read about this car [and the sonata] is that the transmissions on both do not shift smoothly from gear to gear. Haven't really noticed it yet. Another review said that the cupholders weren't very large. In fact, the front cupholders are two different sizes, with a little rubbery thing to brace the cups so they don't tilt if they are too small.

All in all, I think we managed to purchase a great loaded car for a really decent price. 23000.00 we paid. It listed for 26818.63. We only owe the loan of 18000. We should manage to pay that off rather quickly. We could have done without the loan, but it helps to build up my sad credit history. I haven't had a lot of loans or credit cards, so the history is short. Two car loans in 16 years.

Now, I have to start looking at trucks. We need to get a new one next June when the lease is up on the Chevy S-10.

The color is practically the same as road dirt. doesn't show dirt at all, just becomes less shiny. LOL

The only people who had American Zippos were those whose mums had been fraternizing with the GIs, lol! Poor folks still used matches, mostly. I remember they came in thin wood or cardboard boxes with sandpaper on one side. I do remember those cylindrical brass lighters, the kind where you flipped a wheel, like Zippos (I think they might have been military issue), but it was a while before "regular" people could get, let alone afford, lighters of a more modern bent. The factories were gone and those being built were for essentials--like planes and buses, also engineering tools.
