Say Git, fancy a visit from a friend down south?

We're planning a little trip to New Bern, NC at months end. Leaving here on the early morning of Wednesday, Sept 25. We have a short stop to make in Spartanburg SC. Either on the way up or on the way down, we're not sure yet. I think it would be easier on the way up. [Maj doesn't even have an address yet! LOL]

Anyway, we figured a bit of a stop for lunch one day, if you can fit it into your schedule. We'll be heading back home around October 4, a friday. The weekend is for fishing, so Friday thry Monday are full. Perhaps Thurday Sept 26, or the Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday following?

Durham is about 3 hrs drive from New Bern, so figure four to get there and some sightseeing on the way [euphemism for being lost, LOL}. Or, we can maybe go direct from Spartanburg to Durham on the way up. Depends on whether Maj finds the address to the aunt's house.

[We gotta do something with this new car, right?]

Barefoot, hope you don't intend to wimp out for a little hurricane...

It isn't so much that, but we'd hate to miss the chance to fish, and a storm at sea would do just that.

Hope we can work it out, BF. Have a new problem, as you may have guessed--Polly is in need of care re chronic renal failure. The vet wants me to give her subcutaneous fluids two or three times a week and that takes some time. I was at the vet's office for four hours yesterday alone. Anyway, let's take it day by day and see how things look when you're due. Obviously, I'd love to have lunch with you guys.

Bear in mind the Hungarian starts work at noon (usually, although she does normal hours about every 6 weeks), so if you'd like to meet her, you nmight want to work it in.

Oh--have another problem--the socket for the monitor cable has gone screwy--I've got the connection duct-tped down to a tray to keep it in just the right position for the screen to work but who knows how long that will last? I'm trying to talk the station out of donating an old laptop but haven't had anyone take the bait yet.

Well, it would seem that Sweetie is already living about 720 feet below sea level, so maybe all y'all could just meet up in Charleston. (Poor Polly notwithstanding.)

Sure thing. I just received acceptance of the extended absence from work. Maj should be managing the same at work as well.

btw, did y'all hear about Consolidated Freightways? Laying off 15000 in the US? A very popular shipper around here, and Maj has quite a bit to handle as a result of that. Should be sorted by the time we leave.

I know all about it, Barefoot. We have a branch here in Cols., and I'm going to run two bags of groceries over to one of the former employees later today. They've had to put every spare cent into paying for a nursing home for an aged parent -- not everything is covered by Medicaid -- and now this! Her oldest daughter was going to start college, but she's put that on hold and gotten a temp job to help out the family. Shades of the 1981 recession all over again . . .
