Stainless steel passenger car paint match

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

A similar question was asked about three years ago, but can anyone suggest a model paint that comes close or matches the stainless steel color of ACL/SAL streamlined passenger cars. Many thanks ! John Potter

Model Railroader did an article on using 'buffable' paints several years ago. Also, I believe the model tool manufacturer/distributor MicroMark sells a silver/chrome paint that can be polished or buffed to a sheen.

Haven't looked for Rub 'n' Buff in a while, but I have seen it in art supply and craft stores. It comes in a number of metallic finishes. I dunno if it's still around- I would assume so, and I'd hie me to Reddi-Arts to get it. (Local Jax art supply store.)

Some hints, John: Poly Scale's Stainless Steel , or Model Master SS Laquer. Years ago , I used "Rub n Buff", but I don't even know if you can find it anymore.
