I have been diagnosed with Spontaneous Osteonecrosis of the right knee. In view of the recent Prempro studies, my GYN has taken me off Prempro & prescribed Evista. One of the cautions about using Evista is that it can be a factor in increased risk of blood clots (venous Thromboembolism). Can this create a conflict with osteonecrosis now & future surgeries? Thank you.

Answers

Hypercoagulability is a known risk factor for AVN. Whether Evista is specifically indicated in causing AVN has, to my knowledge, never been reported.
