Where were you on 9/11?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : All Things Final Fantasy II : One Thread

So where were you all on 9/11? And what went through your head? Were you scared? Mad? Shocked? I was at school. I was shocked and mad. I could not work to well but the teachers forced us to work instead of trying to gain some sainity. When I came home and saw it, I thought "what the hell happend" I was pissed and felt so helpless. I wanted to find the bastard who did this and kick his fucking ass. And now as I type, I am starting to get shakey. I want to do something. But I am too young. Too weak. Too weak to do anything in the armys eyes. But when I get old enough, I will get those bastards who did this and make them pay! So how did you guys feel?

-- Anonymous, September 10, 2002

Interesting. Most interesting. I was going to do a topic like this tomorrow, Trowa. Way to be on top.

As some of you may or may not know, may or may not care, I was in the United States Military. Different time, different place. That's all I'll say about that. People always assume I am a badass, so I usually leave that part out. Yes, I can take any weapon out of your hands that you're trying to use on me. Yes, I can kill, shoot guns, run, fly an F-18 Hornet (in a pinch), paralyze, make war, break, enter, and the like. It's not important. I encountered this as an American, not as a soldier/sailor.

I was pissed off.

I don't hold anything against anyone. If you're American, you have the RIGHT to not give a shit if you want. Thousands of people have fought and died to MAKE SURE that people who don't care about America can live here with the rest of us. It's what this country is founded on. I'm different. I believe with every fiber of my being that among other things, people are entitled to live. Especially people that I know and love and had served with. Some of them didn't make it out of the Pentagon. That attack may have been an attack on US Foreign Policy. May have been revenge. This revenge had to be taken on the common folk, since (not bragging), people like me are pretty hard to kill in combat.

I was pissed.

Now, you can beat me up, call me names, call me idealistic. Those people in New York were NOT negotiating foreign policy. They were in their cubicles, checking email, drinking coffee, talking on cell phones, making small talk. They were doing what you and I do all day. They, like every other peson in THE WORLD, had the right to live, to love, to breathe, to jump, to raise a family and to pursue happiness. Gone.

I was pissed.

Now let's talk timing. This happened 3 DAYS after I was released from active duty. Now let's talk about freedom. Anyone who jeapordizes it anywhere is an enemy of mine. It's something every HUMAN should be. That includes freedom of speech. So to anyone who blasts ArchPyro or anyone else that doesn't care, don't. I would risk my LIFE to ensure that him or ANYBODY could SAY they don't care without fear. In Somalia, you could be shot and killed for saying you didn't care. You wanna live there? Me neither. This is America, and YOU ARE FREE TO CARE OR NOT CARE, and that is YOUR FUCKING RIGHT WHICH I SPENT 4 FUCKING YEARS ENSURING THAT ALL 365 MILLION PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY WILL ALWAYS ENJOY. Nobody in this country or on this board owes me anything. Doing what you feel is right isn't easy, but it will always make you a better person.

You all aren't accustomed to hearing me swear. I apologize. It doesn't happen frequently here (but lots in real life). FUCK WHOEVER DID THIS. And Trowa, I respect what you said, but ask yourself this: if you had that cocksucker on his knees, crying and begging for his life, could you empty his brains out? Could you REALLY bust his ass? It's easy to say yes, but believe me, just PICKING UP a loaded gun is a burden on me. POINTING IT even at a target is even harder. I closed my eyes half the time when I was scoring "Sharpshooter" ribbons with the M-16 and 45. I can't imagine killing anyone. Especially not for revenge. Who's the killer in that instance? Me? Or him?

-- Anonymous, September 10, 2002

I agree with AP, who are you to say that? You have no significance here, or to the rest of the world. You are but yet another mindless human. You're welcome for that little self-esteem boost. Everyone who does not make a difference to the world and the way people see things is just another human. There is no "fate" in this world, no pre- determined "destiny". No, we make our own choices in life. So, if you chose to make a difference in the world, then make it. If not, then just remain a human like everyone else.

In any event, I was at home at the time of the terrorist attacks. A lot of my friends were at school. They said there were some kids being taken home by parents, but the students still inside were not allowed to be told anything that was going on outside the walls.

As for how it made me feel, I was effected, in some way, yes, but when you tend to try not to think about things, as I do most of the time, you, in turn, tend not to realize the meaning of many things until much later than everyone else. I, however, was very patriotic before the attack. I believed America was a strong, prominent nation and could survive through many things. Although there were, and still are many disputes in America, September 11 proved, even if for only a small amount of time, our nation can, in fact, come together and survive something as tragic as losing the Twin Towers. Even if, after a short time, we all go back to doing the same thing we usually do, those few moments in time that we all came together as a nation are what really make a difference.

Well, I hope this didn't indult you, but did leave you with something. Oh, and, one more thing, while you may not be important to the rest of the world, you are still important to your friends and family, and that's what really counts. *Peace n hair grease!*
~SJ~

-- Anonymous, September 10, 2002

Since it seems I am losing more respect I may have once had from some of our more patriotic posters, I think I should expand on what I was saying. I didn't really care because I wasn't close enough to be affected by this, none of my family was anywhere near when it happend, and until last night I didn't even see how bad it affected the people that were near it. (not talking about any of you) I'll second what SJ said: We try not to think about things like that. Now for you people that were hurt or affected by this I can't start to imagine how bad you feel, but don't start your shit with me just because I don't feel the same way. That's all I'm trying to say.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

pie, who in the hell are you to say such things.if these ppl don`t feel bad then they dident, its that simple.and why are you wishing them to go to hell there not the ones that did this.we are all mad scared saddend and broken by these acts. but lashing out at one another is not going to help things

we shoud rember the dead and morn them but we shoud get on with our lives.if we don`t than what are we doing here for? we shoud leave the past where it belongs. sure we shoud reminis and rember.but not to the extent where we act like it was yesterday.if we do than we are wasting our lives doing so.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

I didn't give a bleeding fuck, sure some people died and sure the tower was destroyed, but if Iraq would "remeber"innocent casualty's from american bombing's. they would remember every day. so FUCK YOU america europe doesnt give a fuck about sept. 11

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

Let me just say something to you DZ. How would you feel if some motherfucking idiot hit one of your buildings. And I know why Europe is against the US attacking Iraq. It's because they don't want Iraq waging war on them. Well guess what. You could kick their ass in a matter of months. So either your against terror or your for it. Make up your damn mind. And if you like terror then fuck you.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

am i the only one who can wate till this wreced day is over with

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

I can't wait, either. It has officially taken over my TV... -you never take over AP's computer, fire, or TV!!!-

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

I was in 2nd period durring the the event. My sister was a senior, and she was looking at colleges. At the time she was in New York looking at NYU, so I left school and ran home(I live real close) to see talk to my mom and call her cell to see if she was ok. The school didn't punish me due to the circumstances. I'll tell you one thing, if someone close to me perished due to the 9/11 events, and those of you who "dont give a fuck" were making comments as you were... would purchase a gun, find out where each and every one of you dumb fucks live, and give you two in the chest, one in the head. As for the Al Quita. Words cannot express what I want to do to them. The closest thing would be to chase them down, capture them alive, and tie them down. Then, I would slowly cut off their body parts with a butterfly knife. I'd start with the fingers, then the toes, and cut off everything one by one to make them feel the pain. I'd do it as slowly as I could, just fast enough to avoid them bleeding to death before I finish each body part. Those bastards must pay, and I will do my part.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

hmm, I explained myself a bit wrong, what I mean is, that offcourse it's terrible for the people that died there, but they made it an inhuman evil act, and thats crap, 'muslims aren't evil they have another view on things, they think what they do is right, so does america. offcourse I would love to see Osama shot 40 times in the same spot and then fed to the ducks, but I just think it's wrong makin it such a big scene and go selling little WTC toy's a year later. and for the bombing of Iraq, I don't fear they attack Holland we are FAAAAAr away from Iraq, I'd just hate to see Saddam throw al sorts of shit on innocent people cuz of bush

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

I'm against the bombing of Iraq. I want to see Sadam removed from power, but we need more planing, more information, and more knowledge of what he's packing.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

I want to dump lighter fluid on Osama's beard and light it on fire. Of course he would have handcufs on. I want to see that bastard die a slow painful death just like the people trapped under the WTC rubble did. I want him to feel their pain. As for muslims I don't hate them but treating women worse then dogs is inhumane. All the fucking rules they have. Geez. What the hell were they smokin when they came up with that one?

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

Lol!! that was funny, the osama oin fire thing. ^_^ *laughs like a maniac*

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

look i have heared too much about this 9/11 please can we put it to bed?

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

Hmm... I was in English class, with FC. Right Peter?

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

No. We found out about it in 1st period. I heard about it on the radio with my dad on the way to school, he dropped me off at randalls. I had to walk the rest of the way to school since he needed to run home and see if my sister was ok. In second period the 2nd tower was hit. Nabils mom was our sub in second period for me (spanish). She made us go outside because she wanted some fresh air from all the terror, then when the 3rd period bell rang i walked to my house. My mom took me back to school during lunch and talked to my AP.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

wait a sec, we didn't even have english together. Did you have 1st period Garrison? I think your thinking of to years ago when we had 7th period with Sharp.

-- Anonymous, September 11, 2002

::blink:: Well, that's what I get for not coming for a few days... Anyway, I was at school, and I heard about it around 2nd or 3rd hour, but I didn't reallt think much about it until 5th, when our teacher had the TV on when we got back from having our pictures taken... It shocked me, and I had friends who lost family there, but I can't really say that I was crying or anything. Don't get me wrong, I hate what those... those THINGS did to us, and yes, I would love revenge, but I have to agree with Jubei--if given the chance, I couldn't even touch the damn gun. Hell, I've never held one in my life. No matter how much I may supposedly love death and destruction in anime and movies and books, I doubt I could ever kill someone. No matter what they did to me.

-- Anonymous, September 13, 2002

I could kill someone, if they diserved it. It would be hard to kill someone durring WW1 or WW2, because most of the people are kids who were drafted to the army to fight, not knowing about the consentration camps(WW2). In Vietnam it would be hard to kill people too. Now most combat is long distance, it's easier to shoot someone with a sniper rifle or a machine gun with a long range. What's hard is shooting someone after seeing their face up close. I could easily cap Osama without hesitating, though i'd rather drag him in alive. Basically, if a person is pure evil, i'd feel a lot less guilty about shooting him.

-- Anonymous, September 13, 2002

you should play less FF games FC, there is no such thin as pure evil :|

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

Evil and good are only metephorical. What is evil to you may be good to someone else.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

There are people that are evil to all others, but not to themselves and their followers. Hitler was pure evil.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

Oh yeah... we didn't have First period together last year. Oops.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

To YOU, Hitler was pure evil. To the Nazis?

People consider Joesph Stalin evil. Hell, I think he was a political mastermind who was a fuckin genius. I mean, he stayed leader of his country till the day he died of natural causes.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

If you look closly i said "There are people that are evil to all others, but not to themselves and THEIR FOLLOWERS. Hitler was pure evil." The Nazis were his followers. And a bullet isn't a natural cause.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

Adolf Hitler. I call him Adolf Shitler. Okay back to the WWII topic.

-- Anonymous, September 14, 2002

American Girls and American Guys We’ll always stand up and salute We’ll always recognize When we see Old Glory Flying There’s a lot of men dead So we can sleep in peace at night When we lay down our head My daddy served in the army Where he lost his right eye But he flew a flag out in our yard Until the day that he died He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me To grow up and live happy In the land of the free. Now this nation that I love Has fallen under attack A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in From somewhere in the back Soon as we could see clearly Through our big black eye Man, we lit up your world Like the 4th of July Hey Uncle Sam Put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty Started shakin’ her fist And the eagle will fly Man, it’s gonna be hell When you hear Mother Freedom Start ringin’ her bell And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue Justice will be served And the battle will rage This big dog will fight When you rattle his cage And you’ll be sorry that you messed with The U.S. of A. `Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass It`s the American way Hey Uncle Sam Put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty Started shakin’ her fist And the eagle will fly Man, it’s gonna be hell When you hear Mother Freedom Start ringin’ her bell And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

I love that song. ^-^

I love it how Amerika FORCES you to beleive in christianity. Like, RIGHT on the fucking money, "In God we Trust".

I know, I know, canada has "God keep our land glorious and free" in our National Anthem, but you arent forced to use that to survive. And our national motto isnt "God Bless Canada", yet, Amerika seems to be fine with "God Bless America".

-- Anonymous, September 28, 2002

what the hell is up with u canada and europe? if someone blew the shit out of your mom or dad, u would want to kill them so just shut the fuck up

I thought that we learned two wrongs do not make a right in kingergarden! but i guess that in the time we left we forgot that oh-so important moral
