I live in the panhandle, and would really like to be a midwife, but I think being a doula would be a great start, the first step, to becoming a midwife. Do you have to be a RN or LPN or CNA first?

I currently live in New York City, but will be relocating to Florida this summer. I am interested in the doula certification program, but do not know if I should get started here and finish in Florida or just wait until the summer. I am anxious to get started and need guidance.
