Where's the sound? Bring the noise.... please?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Some of the anime episodes that i download off of KaZaA have no sound with them. Specifically: Cowboy Bebop #19, and Neon Genesis Evangelion #2-26. What's the deal? Do i need to download another type of program to hear the sound or what? Please help me, someone, because the silence is deafening.

There are three possible reasons for this: (Listed in order of ease of remedy)

One is that you have to turn up the sound. It's surprising how often people miss out on this. But if you can hear e.g. winamp music, this isn't the problem.

The second is that the sound is compressed with a codec you don't have, and therefore cannot play.

The third is that the movie you downloaded simply doesn't include sound. Then you'll have to download it elsewhere.

I can give a few tips: First try fastforwarding by moving the time slider forward, if you cannot do that = you have an incomplete file. If you can, however, you probably need a codec. If you need a codec, I find that the most important two are the latest = http://www.divx.com/divx/ and an older one v3.11 = http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html If that doesn't work, try right clicking file and opening with the divx player which comes packaged with the latest codecs. This usually works. If you have an incomplete file but want to force it to play or want to force it to play in media player, not just divx player, get virtual dub and rekey the frames.

Yeah man, That happened to me with ALOT of downloads yah see the people encoded the movies with an older codec so you have to download the old codec to watch it...www.divx-digest.com...It;s most likely gonna be the 3rd codec
