Let's talk about faith!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Yesterday I was at a restraunt and a woman came over to greet me with a smile, she said "do you remember me? I was your nurse when you were in the hospital" I did remember her she was an incredible nurse, all of my nurses were kind. She was surprised that I still had my foot and that it had not been amputated. She told me all the nurses were so worried about me but the one thing that they all talked about was my faith. She said my strong faith helped the other nurses deal with the seriousness of my illness. Again I want to thank all of you for your prayers. It has been nine months, my foot is still healing but I am walking and walking for the lord. So let's talk about faith. What does your faith do for you? How does it affect others? Have there been times when your faith was low? I look forward to hearing your thoughts regarding faith.

Sis, I am dealing with this right now, but I know what I going through is a testimony. Heb 11:1 says "NOW Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evdience of things not seen." It is NOW faith! (Not Is faith now?) We to understand that the God kind of that Faith is ever moving and we must move with it. If we have a covenant relationship with the Lord, what we operate in will manifest. The Word says without faith is impossible to please the Lord and a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and shall receive nothing from the Lord. We must come to a place in our walk with Lord that our faith must be rock solid even though it appears that pharoh's army is behind us and we are stuck between two mountains and the red sea, We must be confident that even in the stuggle when it seems that it looks like it's over, we know in our spirit by reading the Word to call those things which are not as though they were and to speak life to the situation and not death. Faith...."For All I Trust HIM" If we claim to trust the Lord then we must operate in it and that through faith. The Word says He the begun a good work in you shall perform unitl the day of the Lord. We must believe that like Paul says, Eph 3:21 whatever is in us, (and I hope the Word of God) we will speak it and it shall manifest. The earth and universe was created by the Word. We are created in the very image of God so we have the same creative power to speak and it shall happen, but the key when we speak we must have faith!

Thank you Sister Rogers for such an inspirational testimony about faith. It seems that you have experienced a miracle. I will continue to pray for you also. Thank you Elder Crawford for such an instructional lesson on faith also.

Faith and obedience is how we please God. I think God for the faith that I have is growing. I have been inspired by other people's faith also. In a recent edition of EBONY magazine, I was reading about Mary Mcleod Bethune. With faith and a $1.50 this woman started a college known as Bethune-Cookman. I have heard this story before but for some reason, I learned something new this time. Now of course it takes more than $1.50 to start a university but it appears that God rewarded this women's faith by bringing the philanthropists and other resources together to create a university. It was this woman's faith which led her to initially start selling fried fish and sweet potato pies as a fundraiser for her school.

After reading this story, I realized that if I have just a little faith and I willing to take the first step that God who is the object of my faith will bless my efforts if I am pursing His will. I don't have " water walking' faith like Peter had but I thank God for the faith that I do have.

Jazzman, you too have strong faith. The work that you do requires faith for when people come to you for help, it is your faith in God that allows you to go to work everyday. I too read that article in Ebony. It was an inspirational story. We must always tell the story of what God has done for us for it touches others. Thank you for your prayers!! Yahoo! You are right my healing is a miracle. To get out of my bed and make it to the computer was a major feat several months ago. But when I would read the discussion board it gave me strength. I just saw my orthopedic surgeon yesterday, He too calls my foot "the miracle foot!" I am so happy for there is so much work to do for the lord, so many faith stories to hear and tell. Jazzman you and I are fairly new to the denomination but look at all the blessings we have received because of other people faith. Let's keep Elder Crawford lifted in prayer. God is so Good! And the congregations says AMEN!
