Middle East - AP Iraqi Official Suggests a Duel Thu Oct 3, 9:25 AM ET

By SAMEER N. YACOUB, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - An Iraqi vice president offered a unique solution to the U.S.-Iraq standoff: a duel between George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein ( news - web sites).

Taha Yassin Ramadan said the duel could be held at a neutral site and with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan ( news - web sites) as the referee.

Ramadan, wearing a green uniform and a black beret, made his remarks without giving any outward sign that he was joking although reporters who were present detected a note of irony in his voice.

"A president against a president and vice president against a vice president and a duel takes place, if they are serious, and in this way we are saving the American and the Iraqi people," Ramadan told the Associated Press Television Network.

Iraq has two vice presidents, and Ramadan did not say whether he or Taha Muhie-eldin Marouf would take on Dick Cheney ( news - web sites).

There must be some kind of rumor floating around in Iraq that George ,Lonestar , Bush is the quickest draw in the west.

I bet the people of Iraq are real envious that the United States has a real cowboy for president and all they have is a stinkin dictator with camel breath.

If mashall George takes up the offer , will he be showin up on horse back.

JOJ , Jonathan has started a new forum . There are six people posting there, and more who view the forum , but don't post yet. It's steadily growing and even though it seems politically based, most any type subjects are welcomed there .You most likely know everyone who post there .It's a good forum to express things , that may not be appropriate to discuss on the homesteading forums.

The rest of the world does not necessarily agree with America's need to make other countries tow the line. Sept. 11 was merciless and cruel, but what precipitated that tragedy?

I agree that we, Americans, are completely selfish and are not thinking about WHY we were attacked on September 11th. We have attacked innocent lives in Iraq for many years. Sure, we did it openly and didn't hide from it like the terrorists did - but honestly, i think that makes us even worse. We openly admit to killing and are even proud of it. Damn ethnocentrism!
