Not recording the entire folder-tree of the CD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anders Petersson's Freeware Forum : One Thread

Sometimes, recording just the top level of the folder tree is enough: it is not necessary/productive to record the files residing in the last few levels of the folder tree.

Examples: 1. The file name are codes instead of a subject. 2. The files names contain CGI strings (parameters) only.

By pruning the lower branches of the folder tree in the offline data, we reduce the database size, and make searches faster.

Can we have the following:

1. A facility where we can stop browsing at certain lower level in the folder tree? (example: "Level-2" means only top 2 levels will be recorded, starting at E:\). 2. A facility to manually identify the point (separately in each branch of the tree) beyond which the OCDB stops recording? 3. After a CD is browsed, the user should be able to edit its data (for example, delete some branches of the folder-tree)

Hey Victor. I see your point; the suggestions are all good and realistic - well perhaps not the second (a facility to manually identify the point beyond which the OCDB stops recording). That would probably be too much work.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep it in mind for the next, not to be expcted any time soon :(, release.
