Looking for a 1lb or better Roaster Inexpensive.greenspun.com : LUSENET : Coffee Related Buy/Sell/Trade : One Thread
I am a home roaster and have managed to burn through 2 boards on a hearthware unit. The 1/2cup capacity is not good enough for my uses. I have looked into the alpenroast unit but have found that the roasts are very uneven and there is no way to see your roast color.
I don't have a high spending limit. The least expensive 1lb unit I have found is an ESI 1lb roaster @ $2995 new.
Anybody out there have a unit they are upgrading or tossing. I would be willing to have an old unit shipped. If anyone has a unit that would be more expensive to repair than to replace? I am in Portland, OR.

Holly, I too am a home roaster and have been frustrated with expensive small batch roasters. I just designed and fabricated a four pound max capacity propane fired coffee roaster which easily roasts two pounds beautifully. The roasting chamber is all stainless steel constructed and will potentially last for years. The drum is powered by an electric rotisserie motor and housed in a modified gas grill. The model I have now is brand new and has been test roasted once to ensure functionality. Price: $850 +shipping. I have pictures.
