((Okay... I was feeling a bit depressed when I did this, and I felt better afterwards... kinda had to re-affirm myself, ya know? ^__^ Anyways... hope you all enjoy...))

The mirror shattered into a hundred pieces under her fist. Another seven years of bad luck tacked onto the 19 she already had behind her wasn’t going to make any difference. At least she knew she’d live long enough to see them pass… the past three days had been absolute hell… Sure, she had fallen in with her hairdresser, only to find out that her new Girlfriend’s fiancée was none too happy about the arrangement. Then, at work, she had gotten passed up for her promotion, again. The girl they had brought in from Mississippi was cute and all… but she was also hardly single. She stood there, not caring that her hand was bleeding all over the bathroom floor. All she could see through the tears of self-loathing in her eyes was the warped reflection of her face. Nineteen years had led up to this one moment. In one hand, was a way out. Nobody would ever notice she was gone, probably, nobody would even care. She could just end it all, make the rejection, the lies, the complete lack of trust all fade to nothing… nothing would hurt, nothing would bother her anymore. On the other hand, was the harder road. To rise above the pain. Lo let it wash over her like a wave on a beach. Realizing that these were only momentary setbacks, and that for every bad thing that happens, something good will eventually balance it out… so she stood there, the blood on her hand drying over as she stared in the shattered mirror. Her family having nearly renounced her. Her first love having left her with nothing but a broken heart that was still mending. Her friends leaving her behind for their own designs… In truth, she had nothing. No one to rely on. No one to come home to. Nothing. Despite that. The broken mirror piece left her blood-crusted hand, and she set to cleaning her mess up. There was only one option she had. To continue on… for her, Life was something to be savored, not hated. There was not enough time in the day for her to waste on feeling sorry for herself, not when there was so much more to do. After a quick bout with the roll of gauze, she cleaned her face and left… best to get a new mirror before her mother gets home.
