Am hearing could be bus driver, vic was shot ON bus, through open door, reportedly.

Am now hearing vic was standing on steps when he was shop so possiobly passenger. Choppered to hospital with "Class 1 chest wound," believe they said 40 years old, no word on condition.

Sidebar: talking head, commenting on medical care, pointed out that homicide rate is down due to better trauma care--quite right.

Git, that is true in Boston as well, better trauma treatment is resulting in more potential homicide victims surviving.

victim has died.

He was taken straight into surgery. I hoped that was an indication that he didn't need to be stabilized first. I guess not.

BrookS, unfortunately, that report usually indicates just the opposite. Whenever I hear that an injured or wounded person has been loaded immediately and taken to the hospital, I know that victim is in a very critical, life-threatening condition. If I catch the ambulance pre-alerting the hospital and the hospital says, "Triage on arrival," I know that even though the vic seems seriously injured, he or she will probably be okay and the paramedics were able to stabilize. When I hear, "Take the patient to Room X on arrival," I know that means life-threatening.

Y'all must be thining the same thing I am. It wasn't a coincidence that the Sniper was at that particular bus stop at that particular time. I believe the buses around here leave the terminal at 6 AM, arriving at their first stops various times after that. If that is also true for Montgomery County, then this driver, apparently, was a little early and stopped at that bus stop to fill out his route paperwork. There are few riders at that time in the morning; the Sniper couldn't have been positive he would find a target quickly and he also can't afford to hang about for long--when dawn arrives, people would be in that area walking their dogs and jogging and such.

Suppose the Sniper knew that driver was in the habit of stopping there? Perhaps it was also the driver's habit to open the door, perhaps step out for a minute, catch a little leg-stretch when he was through with his paperwork. Perhaps he also had a habit of leaving the door open, another aid to accuracy in shooting.

The guy must live real close to that bus stop.

Or maybe he's just damn lucky.

OG, that crossed my mind, too. I also wonder if the shooter(s) don't already have a list of victims in mind, victims whose routines are already know to this slime.

I'm still not conviced that it isn't a local terrorist cell. I've read elsewhere that there are a number of foreign nations who live in the area, so "blending in" wouldn't be difficult.

I still think it's a postal worker.

Read that most shootings happen either before or after a typical shift change. Postal is normally three tours, or shifts. 7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm, 11 pm to 7 am. with variations in start and end times as per bids. could be the shooter is familiar with the area[s] from working different jobs, routes, etc.

Probably working a six day week, too. Plus holidays.

Someone at Timebomb has the nauseating suggestion that he has to kill in order to insert another note into the process. Too afraid to make unnecessary telephone calls.

LOL, I wondered about a postal worker too but refrained from mentioning it out of respect! There are all kinds of delivery possibilities, though, FedEx, UPS, for instance. Who would question a uniformed delivery guy carrying a box (containing a rifle or whatever)? Problem is, there are SO many possibilities and so many suspicious neighbors and relatives (!) that the police or overwhelmed by theories and tips.
