California here I come!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

I have a trip scheduled for California next month. If my plans work out I will be visiting both San Francisco and L.A. Now, as is customary on my journeys I do plan to visit some AME congregations during my stay. I can't remember her name but there is a member of this BB who attends an AME church in San Jose, CA and has promised exceptional hospitality when I visit. Well, the time has come since I will be in the Oakland-Palo Alto-San Jose area. I also look forward to visiting So Cal (LA-Riverside-San Diego). I know there are posters of this BB who are represented in the No Cal & So Cal area. You know who you are so email me your church address so I can make my plans. I especially look forward to meeting Pastor Mike Barta. I will be presenting you with a special gift, since you eschew from listening to Rush Limbaugh - a copy of William F. Buckley's magazine, The National Review. Oh, lest I forget, for all my Cal friends, please have your ushers reserve my front seat on the end row, introduce me to the local Church School Superintendent & Lay President, prepare a tasty mid-afternoon dinner & have ground transportation service between my hotel and your church :-) Since I am representing Bishop Adams, it is only fitting that a member from the 11th Episcopal District be treated as a Bishop's representative. As American Express says, "membership does have its privileges". QED

Welcome to the Sunshine State!

Unless Rev. Barta gets moved (and I don't think that will happen considering his entire congregation came to Annual Conference), he is at Johnson Chapel in the city of Santa Ana.

If he doesn't respond to you, send me e-mail, and I will get you directions to his church.

Rev. Harper
