had to happen sooner or later, would have preferred later...

some punk came along yesterday and hit my car. yeah, the new one.

not much damage visible, just a scratch, really. But the little bastard tried to run! I chased his ass down and blocked him in behind the business next to where it happened.

Police said he would be ticketed because he hit me. also, he apparently had no proof of insurance. he will be twenty on halloween.

just what i needed, another day late to work because of that car. And it all started because of a loaf of moldy bread. I stopped at Miami Subs to get a sandwich to take to work because our bread was green.

Note for others: If you are in a private driveway [as in not on a public road] normal road rules do not necessarily apply.]

The punk claimed I was blocking the entrance to the restaraunt. I checked last night after work. The only sign for that driveway [and my car was blocking it at the time] says "EXIT" LOL

The cop said it didn't matter if I was blocking it because it was a driveway. A private driveway. Then he asked, "If this gentleman was blocking the driveway what made you think you could pull into it?"

Insurance is going to research this one. I have to get a statement ready, I guess. complete with diagram of lot, entrances and exits, and pictures. not a problem. i have a digital camera and a great printer.

Cost for repair, for visible damage, I estimate at about 500 dollars. they have to repaint the area and match the paint. If there is anything under that plastic bumper that is damaged, that will be more.

Sounds so measly considering the current events in the world, but dammit, I did not buy this car so some punk could come along and hit it. Right?

Ohhhhh Barefoot,

Sorry to hear about your car. Sometimes, don't you just wish that you could punch the punk's lights out just to feel better?

Hopefully, his mommy and daddy will take the repair costs out of his butt one way or another.

just 11 days ago, some old guy ran into my Dad's S10 that Dan drives to work...only 30,000 miles and MINT!!! we are still waiting to see if they are going to total it. sometimes, LIFE JUST SUCKS!

hope your car gets all fixed soon.

Gawd, big bummer, BF! Yep, it happened in the "PVA" (Private Vehicle Access) and it IS a bit different. I don't suppose there were any surveillance cameras around??? One pic worth , etc., etc. Sounds like the cop is on your side--might mean that he already checked the punk's license plate and found he had a bit of a record.

At some point, could you write an "attaboy" to the officer's supervisor? You call the cop, tell him you thought he acted very professionally and was a credit to the uniform, yada, yada, and what's his supervisor's name and addres so you can drop him a note to put in his personnel file? He will love you for it and you never know when you might need his help :)

Well, here's a shocker!

The dealership says they can repaint the bumper for 176.58 total. In four hours, any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I was thinking next Wednesday, but maybe Monday would be better. I can get up early without so much hassle on Monday compared to Wednesday after working till 1:30.

Insurance adjuster called me while I was at the dealership getting the tires and oil done. She then called the boy's mom and she does have insurance with Geico but wants to pay it herself. Fine by me.

I have to call her and set up a where and when and how, I guess.

I think I'll send the boy a birthday card with a picture of the entrance, showing it says exit and not enter. LOL Also a bit of advice I myself took a long time to learn, "Slow down!" Not that I always follow that, especially with this car. Plenty of cops gave that advice over the years.

Oh, one other thing good today. We have been told about repeatedly by many people, and heard it ourselves, a noise coming from the car when it is first started. At work, at home, anywhere we are. Seems it is the A/C making the noise. Finally, the dealership heard it, found the problem, and replaced a tensioner pulley on the belt. No more noise!!!!! At least, I haven't heard it yet.

tires are all re-balanced and it drives better. Also, the front tires don't look so flat no more. i always wondered, but the dealership always said they were okay. Now I know they weren't since they are now up to correct pressure.

Feeling good enough now to go outside in this 88 degree weather and think about all the yard work I need to be doing. With a beer, of course. LOL

I guess it's better to have the first one be minor like this, instead of seeing the car crushed in, right?

Just imagine us up here in 50 degree, rainy weather, with muddy gardens and cloudy skies.

Enjoy that beer!
