my first shoulder pain

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

Hello - Is it possible that some part of my shoulder is worn (out)? I used to exercise by doing a lot of push ups. Have practised martial arts for over 12 months which has involved some boxing.

Now when I sleep with using my left arm as a pillow I wake with excruciating pain in my shoulder. Also if I move my arm in to certain positions I get a pain.

When I have taken anti-inflammatory pills for a toothace the pain recedes.

It isn't a constant pain but given that I am 32 yrs old I am surprised by this and intrigued by the cause as much as how to repair it.

Thanks for any suggestions - JoC

John,

Your symptoms sound fairly typical for rotator cuff problems. An evaluation by an experienced shoulder surgeon may help to confirm and treat the problem. If you are located locally I would be more than happy to perform an evaluation for you.
