Gobal warming in central NC?

You know it's pansy season and so yesterday I was outside pansying. In two distinctly separate places, I found a giant flying roach,--you know the kind if you've ever been to New Orleans or Florida. I've never seen them here in ten years of active gardening, although I hear they have them in Charleston too. Now I'm wondering if they hitched a ride in Sweetie's truck or if it's now warm enough here to attract them. Sweetie says he hasn't seen any around his apartment complex or where he works but that's no guarantee. The other thing is that chipmunks have been gradually increasing in number from zero the first four or five years to a virtual plague of the cute little nuisances. (This area has been overdeveloped for decades so it's nothing to do with new construction.)
