can someone please advise me, i handed the keys into the property 4 1\2 years ago i was made aware that they sold the property for 10,000 i had a mortgage for 19,500 2 weeks ago a company mentioned on this web site has sent me a letter to say the northern rock want 16,000 as a shortfall i had the mortgage myself at this time but now have another with my partner,can they make me pay from the equity on this joint mortgage or is this safe,what is the proceedure now from their side as i have not responded,and what if any thing can i do from my side,

i would be grateful for any info
