In my point of view, zakat is a system that control the wealth of people. That is the first function which pressure the idle wealth of people to convert to productive investment. The second function is a social function that take some wealth from rich people and give it to poor people. Both of functions take place in the same time. I think that is zakat. I dont agree with the mainstream perception that focus to the social function and dont understand to the first function.
