WHAT DID POE MEAN WHEN HE TALKED ABOUT THE SPIRT OF PERVERSENSESS

He explains it quite well in "The Imp of the Perverse" with an illustrative story included. From St. Paul's "the evil I would not do I do" and best drawn out in "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoievski. The need to self destruct and confess(not out of guilt but oddly almost boasting, the need to tell).
