Nov. 27, 2002 Car bomber's name released (UPDATE) By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

Muhammad Nahadi blew himself up this morning in the northern Gaza strip.

According to Israel Radio, Nahadi drove a car, laden with explosives, at high speed toward the Israeli-Palestinian liaison office in the northern Gaza Strip, drew Israeli fire and exploded near the gate. The terrorist was en route to carry out an attack on soldiers positioned in the Gaza Strip.

A Palestinian trailer was set aflame by the explosion, according to the radio. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a radical PLO faction, claimed responsibility.

At around the same time, the radio said, another explosion was heard. IDF officials believe the sound was a mortar shell being fired. Palestinians fired five other mortar shells overnight at troops positioned near the Jewish community of Neve Dekalim in the northern Gaza Strip.
