News....Read all about it!

Hi there, It's been a while since I’ve been on the forum, and for that I apologize, however, on my defense I have been extremely busy (as I’m sure most of you are at this point - hope all is going well). There are several things I’d like to update you on, as well as some general comments. School Stuff: Things are moving right along, and getter tougher the further into it I get- but don’t get me wrong I’m loving every minute of it. More and more I’m convinced that Windsor was the best choice for me. As the term is wrapping up, I too am trying to finish my work...I have in fact, two 20 page papers due this Monday, and MMPI report (MMPI= personality inventory that I administered to an undergrad student as part of course requirement, and also to prepare us for the client that we'll be seeing and assessing next term); stats final and assignment (you can never get enough of stats:); and a presentation. So as you've probably guessed...I’m going crazy right now trying to put all of this together!

I have finally decided on a research question for my thesis: "Examine the relationship between resolution of child abuse issues and forgiveness in EFT". EFT is an experiential process (emotion focused therapy), and it is Dr. Greenberg's specialty (prof at York U.). I am actually working with Dr. Paivio, who did her PhD at York with Greenberg. Unfortunately, there will not be any stats involved with the results of my thesis, as it is more descriptive and qualitative in nature; however there is still a lot of work to be done. I am currently working on my proposal, in the hopes that I would propose by the end of this year, but with the workload I’m not sure if that is possible.

Although I have been extremely busy, I have been to Toronto several times throughout the month of November. I also went to visit my best friend in Ottawa for her birthday, ironically the same weekend of Paul’s retirement party, which I was supposed to attend. My mind was everywhere and nowhere at the time (as is now) and so I completely forgot about the retirement party (once again Paul I apologize). From speaking to Paul, it sounds like everyone had a great time, and I wish that I could have been there. At least I got to read Paul’s speech, which was by the way beautiful! It must have been great to see old students there- sort of like a reunion….perhaps in a few years we can actually have one…

As usual, I have written too much…I better get back to my essays.. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their exams, or whatever else is coming up for them. Happy holidays, and looking forward to hearing your news.

Take care, Helen
