not backing up the files

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anders Petersson's Freeware Forum : One Thread

I'm using NHB beta v2.5,3 with W98SE and everything installs and operates OK, except the backup will only create the folders to the destination, it won't backup any files. The log only tells me 'error copying xxx-filename'.

Any ideas?

Hi Derrick.

You get some kind of error message? What does it say? Is there an error number.

Also make sure the files aren't being used by some programs.

Hi all. There is something in the copy command that is wrong, obviously. While I'm trying to fix it so it works on non-XP machines you can use the latest final version (2.0).

Hi again all. I've test run the new beta (version 6) on a WinME machine and if works fine (version 5 didn't). Most likely NHB beta 6 runs fine on all versions of windows later than Win95. You'll find it for download at the homepage.

I've the same problem using NHB v2.5, beta 5 build 27 with WinMe. While, NHB v2.0 works well, NHB v2.5 looks to work good but do not copy new files and return the message 'Error copying new file:xxx- filename'. These files were not used by any other application. I hope you'll fix the problem

I have the same problem with Win ME, also using the 2.5 beta 5. I have run the same NHB on the Win 2k system successfully.

I'll try an older release.

I am having the same problem in Windows 98.

I am about to try it with NT or older version

I've installed version 2.5 Beta 5 on an XP machine and it works great, including grabbing data accross the network. When I installed it on the second (ME) machine and try to back up the same two groups of data it creates empty folders. There IS data in the sources. If this is an ME version problem, is there another version I should try?

Thanks

I have the same problem with Win98SE... No files in the perfectly mirrored file structure on the destination drive, an ACOM external HD, 60Gb on USB2. Hope you get this fixed... I love the program..
