Run-time Error '7' - Out of Memory

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anders Petersson's Freeware Forum : One Thread

Hello,

Just tried to install OCDB 3.15.. Looked like the installed worked fine, but when the application tries to start, a Run-time error '7' appears (out of memory). I checked all of the dependancies and I either meet or exceed the version suggested. I am running Windows XP sp1 with Visual Studio v6.0 sp5.

Can you offer a suggestion or work around?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Shawn.

No, I don't think I can. I can only give you the standard tip of clearing up some free space on the hard drive, and I guess you already checked that and the vitual memory. Other than that I don't know what's going on - have had no such reports before.

I also installed OCDB 3.1.0.15 on my (Windows XP Home edition with Service Pack 1) . It installed with no problems and I listed about 25 CDs and then it stopped working and I get exactly the same message that Shawn gets each time I try to load it (I usually have about 350mbs of memory free).

The only change that I can think has happened is that the failure is occurring after I installed DirectX Version 9.

I have installed Offline CD Browser v 3.1 on another machine with DirectX Version 8.1 and copied the .cdb files over and it works fine. I also installed it on another machine which also uses DirectX Version 8.1 and created about 15 .cdb files from CDs and the programme works fine on that machine. Both these machines are running Windows 98 SE.

I presume there is something in DirectX Version 9 which is clashing with Offline CD Browser 3.1.

I have really enjoyed using this programme and thank you for creating it.
