looking for a certain Pacific Heights hotel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

Years ago, walking around Pacific Heights, I came across and had to go into this old hotel. From what I remember it was 3 (?) storeys tall. Was mainly black and white...almost all wood. Looked pre-Victorian in style and didn't have very much carved ornamentation.

The reception room's floor was slanted due to age and was of wooden planks highly polished and almost black in color. It was pretty small, perhaps 30 rooms for lodgers.

The banisters and newell posts were wooden and squarish in shape.

Any idea where it might be or which one it might be?

I'd like to go back for a visit, but don't know where it is.
