Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to wish you all a happy and healthy holiday and new year.

I have been busy at school, UWO. I'm studying audiology and just begining a thesis. I will be studying how noise affects children's learning. The topic is still very broad, but in time I should have a better idea of what aspect I will be looking at. Gigi, I will be looking at different types of learning styles, and I believe one of the girls in the lab is looking at how noize affects childrens reading/comprehension.

Many of the course I take are clinically based, but I was able to take a stats course this semster. The prof also believed in understanding the concepts and not memorizing equations, so it was easy to follow and understand. I even got to "play" on SPSS, so that was fun. Paul, thanks for the great foundation in stats understanding!

Happy Holidays, Michelle

I would also like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season!

So far I have had a very happy holiday. On December 6th I successfully defended my M.Sc. thesis and so that chapter in my life seems to be drawing to a close. Of course it will take a while to get the publications out, but the degree itself is finished. As usual a base in statistics came in handy for my M.Sc. A stats oriented mind was needed to have at least a basic understanding of Bayesian analysis, Monte Carlo Markov chains and Coalescent theory :-)

I plan to spend Christmas here with my family and then go to Panama to be with my husband where we can celebrate New Years (a big family holiday in Panama) with his family. After that I plan to stay in Panama (for how long I am not sure) and will be working with a professor named Jeff Brawn from the University of Illinois on the ecology and behavior of forest birds. This work will be a contract as opposed to a Ph.D. I am still deciding whether or not to stay in academia or venture into the working world!

Happy Holidays!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy and healthy new year. It's great to see what everyone has been up to. I am in my second year of medical school at the University of Ottawa. It's a really great program ---i'm with a great group of people, in a great city-- what more could I ask for. Sharon's also in my class and she says hello to everyone as well. That's all for now. All the best!!! Keep in touch,
