Merry Christmas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

All,

I won't be around much until after the New Year, cause I'll be off from work. :)

I will be home attending to a hurt husband, as he had an accident last weekend. He'll be okay.

In case that I don't see you all before, please remember to be careful during this Holiday Season.

My wish for each of you is that you will have the most wonderful Christmas of your entire life. Be safe, be watchful, but enjoy yourself. Please take time to reflect upon the season and the meaning.

May you each be warm, your tummies filled, and your stockings filled to running over. *note I know that there are a couple of you that will be getting a lump of coal, as I have it on good authority* ;)

May we as a country, and as a world, pass through this season with peach for one another. That is my wish.

Oh yeah, it looks like I (just) might be able to have my 3rd ever White Christmas. Seems like they know it is coming, it is just a matter of what type and exactly how much (they are thinking large amounts). The question right now only is where will the snow line be and where will the ice start. From the early morning weather reports, it looks like I'll be right on the line. Wouldn't bother me to be without the phone, lights, or heat for a bit, I'd just snuggle up next to hubby, well his unhurt side.

Love Ya All,

apoc

And Merry Christmas to you, Apoc! I hope that your DH recovers quickly and fully and that you have all the white stuff that you want on Christmas Day!

I plan on starting a news fast soon myself. Seems like most of it is disinfo. When IT happens, it'll happen, and there's nothing more that I can do about it at the moment.

Best to you and yours, including all the furkids!

Gawd, is that the only way he could get off for Christmas???

Thanks for all the good wishes, envious glances re the White Christmas, and, as always and to all, may your power be uninterrupted.

Jury is out as to whether eastern Massachusetts will be white - maybe I'll be doing yard work that day (need to dry my lawn mower tank). LOL

This is the first year I won't be spending the home part of Christmas with family, just natural attrition, really. It is also shaping up to be about the best Christmas season ever me, because I have had the opportunity to spread some cheer around. Feels great!

Have a merry, all!

The Hungarian and I were eating breakfast at Elmo's Diner a few days ago. There were two paramedics in the booth behind us and I thought, hell, they're not ordering huge breakfasts, I'll pay for their meals. So I called their waitress over, whispered what I wanted to do. Their check was less than ten bucks, what the hell. I wrote them a little note, thanking them for all they do (and they really do put up with a lot of crap) and told them Merry Christmas and that if they're ever called to this diabetic at this address, the kitties go to the PetsMart vet!

When I went to get the mail that afternoon, there was a "Vial of Life" and an info sheet to fill out. The info sheet is to be filled out with details of meds, who to contact in an emergency, what medical conditions you have, and so on. Carbon goes to EMS HQ, top copy goes in the vial, which you then place in the fridge. A magnet indicates that the vial is there.

The accompanying note began, "Breakfast is always good at Elmo's but today was even better. Thank you." It went on to explain that EMS always checks the fridge to see if there's a "Vial of Life" with instructions for them. I had no idea the program existed--there may be one in your town too. Very comforting to know now that Sweetie is gone so much.

And I would never have known if I hadn't followed that impulse.

This means that you may need it in the near future. Impulses I follow always lead to that. Fill it out!

Try and keep the vial towards the front of the fridge, dear.

Oh, what a good point.

I should put something on my 'fridge. I live alone -- no known major health problems at the moment -- but if I passed on during a holiday, there's a good chance that I wouldn't be missed for at least a week, and the first people to miss me might be clueless as to whom to contact -- my close relatives have all passed on. I would hope that someone would feed the cat. She knows how to turn on the taps to get water and knows to drink from the toilet bowl . . .

Argh! It's too early in the day for creepy death stuff . . .

Teehee, I filled it out immediately and mailed it with a Christmas card. Because I have my fridge door on the left. the clear plastic covered butter container is first on the top row and the vial is in there, very easy to see.

The other thing to consider is that nosy neighbors won't get inside on the pretext of finding a phone number and calling it.

I didn't know what little thing to get Kim, who owns Grannie's. I mean, she has access to more than everything! I finally gave her a big bag of good quality catnip for her kitties, something she probably doesn't have time to shop for. Btw, I read somewhere you're not supposed to give cats catnip more than once a week because they develop a tolerance for it.
