Please pray for me

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am going through difficult times and I feel not so good. First I lost my girl, then I lost my job and now I am afraid of loosing all the things that I've worked so hard to get and that I am still paying off. I do not want to lose all of my stuff. I keep praying everyday but it does no good. Is God listening to me? Or will he probably answer me after I've lost everything?

Sorry Guillermo, to hear about your troubles. Don't give up, pray even harder, God will help you, even though you maybe surprised at the kind of help you get, as it's not always as we expect. There are many good novenas to pray. I will pray for you. Try to have a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as God has promised great help to those who have devotion to his Sacred Heart!

Dear Guillermo,

God listens to all of our prayers and He answers all of them, perhaps not in the way we want Him to answer them.

He has a plan for your life, Guillermo...Jesus says:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and I will bring you back....to the place from which I carried you into exile."

Pray hard and ask the Lord what He has in mind for your life...you will find peace as you seek God's plans for you, knowing and trusting that He has something better planned for you, something better than you can imagine right now.

Jesus tells us to thank Him in all things, 'all' things, not just the good times and good things...Thank Him for your troubles because there is a purpose for what you are going through now and remember, "Romans 8:28 - in 'all' things God works for the good."

You say you don't want to lose your "stuff." How important is 'stuff' to you? Maybe God is trying to tell you something, Guillermo. Stuff is only stuff and temporary. We can lose all of our stuff, but still have faith, still have hope, because we have a God who loves us, a God who knows what we need better than we do.

God wants your love, your undying faith in Him, Guillermo, and He wants you to trust Him in everything.

Think about these things, may you find peace and hope this Christmas that God is truly looking out for you and wants to fill your every need.

The best Christmas gift any of us ever received was the Birth of Jesus coming into this world to die for our sins and give us new life. God closes one door and opens another. He never take away without giving something back.

"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." (Proverbs 3:5) Trust Him, Guillermo. God keeps His promises.

Merry Christmas, Guillermo.

Hi Guillermo, I think the advice you have recieved from ML and Gordon is great. I feel a bit silly as one whose own future path is rather dark and uncertain playing the role of agony aunt. While it may seem that the rest of the world just pushes on regardless, that we all seem so in control, the reality is very different. We all have problems, no one has all the answers and we all experience falls from high during our lives. As they say, "shit happens".

I too have been going through a low time, I have badly hurt and let down a number of people close to me. Ive screwed up before, we all do... but this time I really blew it. For the first time in my life I felt so hopeless, so dark-ugh I dont even want to think about it. I have been humbled in a way that on the surface is incredibly difficult to deal with but perhps will be for the best. What ever doesnt kill you makes you stronger...hang on this is a Catholic forum ;-)

Remember the test Jesus gave the disciples on the fishing boat, they failed..we all have doubts at times, only Jesus is perfect! Never forget he loves us so damn much but do not expect him to save your hire purchase wide screen tv!

Dont let the truth of happiness and joy become hidden in the false security of material goods.Guillermo my advice is never to expect that God owes us anything, he is giving us more than we could ever imagine. Hes listening alright, but maybe you are wanting a different answer?

Please Guillermo e mail me if you ever need someone to talk to, I will pray for you.

God Bless and Happy New Year

Dear Guillermo Quintero, The lost of things are so not important. The lost of people are. But even if God does not answer your prayers right away, he has heard your prayers and loves you. Stick with the prayers and god, he will give you strenght, that you never thought you had. And some advice when you pray, pray for others as well, keep close to God have others pray for you as well, he does walk with you in any thing you ask for, if you truly have faith and believe your prayers will be answered. Some times it just takes time and God time is the right time. Be Pa

God does hear you, you are His personal concern.

However many times the natural must be dealt with before the supernatural. please note, i'm not judging you because i do not know your situation but maybe God is saying things to you that you simply refuse to listen to - because it requires change, in order to change your situation and that can be hard to do. For instance, a person shouldnt complain that they can't lose weight if they refuse to exercise or eat right. Or a person shouldnt complain that they cannot pay off their debt if they spend all their money on trivial items.

i dont know, maybe it's something to think about. i'm not judging at all- it's just something i had learnt and maybe it will help you.
