Last of Sony Music's Aeon Overstock?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

Wow... I was one of the lucky few to find this auction in time... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3302701108&ed=1041065490&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOT:US:3

Sony Music just sold 100 copies of the Aeon Flux DVD for $23 each! Damn good deal... There is bad news though- looks like someone got greedy and bought 83 of them, which left only 17 for everyone else. I imagine we'll be seeing these on Ebay soon, with a price markup of $20-30...

Actually looks like there's another 100 on there if anyone's interested!

They never existed

On Derek's tip, I ordered 15 copies. I had long since given away all my copies, and friends still ask me for them.

Sony Music no longer has the video distribution rights. We'll see if the new owner will issue their own version. I'll call MTV about it. Maybe they'll do it right this time.

In the meantime, the upcoming Animatrix DVD is LOADED with extras. Lengthy interviews with all the directors, plus behind-the- scenes documentaries. (OK, so a bunch of animators sitting at desks really isn't all that interesting...)

Well *that* is a nasty scam. Getting my hopes up, too...

And I'm chomping at the bit for Animatrix... My favorite directors, all doing mindblowing animated shorts? Yeah, they'll need restraints if they want to keep me away.

As far as the Aeon Flux DVD is concerned, the guys behind Sifl and Olly managed to do their own release to DVD and VHS to stellar results... Their first run sold out in days. I don't know who owns the rights, but I imagine that Aeon would see a similar response, esp. if the DVDs came with extras that we can't get on the tapes. Director's commentary anyone?

Dont say it Skye, that would be to good to be.

Peter, you really dont even have your own copies of AF? You must have the tapes, right?

Yeah it's too bad, wonder how they could've screwed up and not known they were out of the DVD? Here's what they sent me:

"Thanks for your recent order at the Sony Music Direct store on eBay. Unfortunately the item you purchased, "Aeon Flux", was incorrectly posted and is not available at this time. We have cancelled your order. We are sending you at no charge a similar product from our catalogue as our way of apologizing for any inconvenience this may have caused you."

I got "Turbulence", a "breathtaking computer animated journey into a living cyber-universe" DVD today, haven't watched it yet. Oh well it was nice of them to send something but that still pisses me off!
