Lyrics at South Indian Concerts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : carnatic.com : One Thread

Is there any book which give the lyrics of all the songs, by all the composers, in all the South Indian languages, sung at South Indian Music concerts?

If so, can anybody give the title, author, publisher, language, year of publication, price, where the book can be obtained etc for the book ?

Thanks. R.K. Sharma

There is no such thing. If there is it would run into hundreds of pages. I have published a CD with 4000 lyrics by various composers. I am emailing you the details.

I agree with Lakshman Ragde. You can check out his book and that of TK Govinda Rao's to get many of the mainstream songs.

I wanted to suggest you a resource I have been developing online. Perhaps it may be useful long-term:

http://www.ecse.rpi.edu/Homepages/shivkuma/personal/music/

http://www.ecse.rpi.edu/Homepages/shivkuma/personal/music/varnams

it has online downloadable audio lessons, in addition to audio songs. it is just about 175 songs -- so nowhere near comprehensive. But it may be a start...
