which exhaust is which?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Of the two exhaust systems that come with the Senna, which system is the "high performance/track" system, the silver-stainless tipped system or the dark anodized? The follow-up question is...should there have been a "chip" in the carton with the accessories to be installed in conjunction with the exhaust?

Dan,

On my Senna the race pipes are darker than the standard ones, but the easy way to check is to look down the tail-pipes; the "Special Parts" items are much more open and quite obviously less restrictive. Nice that they've still got all the noise & emissions approvals stamped on them - a bit naughty I think, but it keeps the police happy!

There should be a chip in the box, but it's in a tiny little plastic case about the size of a box of matches. If memory serves me, it might be in the plastic bag with the fuel-injection setting instructions.

Have you found the two spare sprockets? In my case they were cunningly hidden down the side between the polystyrene packing and the carton - I only found them after I'd already sent stinking letters to the importer and MV in Italy!

Thanks, I did get the sprockets, pipes, cover, manual, poster. But no chip. I'm a little concerned that the dealer may have it, as I had asked them to install the race pipes at delivery. (which, thanks to your answer, I now know he did). He may have installed the hot chip when he put the pipes on and forgot to put the stock one back in the carton? The carton was open when I got it so I'm not sure what was supposed to be in there. The question now becomes, how can I tell if I have the hot chip?

Dealers really keep some bits and pieces from your Senna till they really look like raw bikes. I sold my senna to an old stupid rich filipino bloke without the racing exhaust, chip, bike cover stand and manual. he believed that it is really sold separately. i sold the chip for $150, exhaust $1500, stand $300 ant etc. I just wish that guy won't see this website.

Dan, You can check to see if your chip was swapped by removing the computer from its mount, and see if the foil seal on the rubber cover has been fittled with. If the seal is broken, take the rubber cap off and spy the chip. The stock chip had a wax/rubber kind of seal over it holding it in place. The new "hot chip" will not have the seal stuff over it. I too have a Senna(#152), and I swapped the exhuast and chip myself. The sprockets actually were packed neatly in there own place in the foam. The box that came in the crate was un-molested from the dealer. I also got part of the crate to display in my garage!

Hey DZA...sounds like you did quite a number on that stupid old rich filipino guy, good thing it wasnt my Father, who also knows nothing about WTF a MV AGusta Senna F4 is....but I do! Watch your mouth you freakin' no manners-havin' UK fool. The track system is stamped by rivets as "track-use only" and is written in very small letters! My senna #68 (and I owe ya one "DZA") came with both pipes, chips, all sprockets, gripcovers, stands, spr books and poster, mv cover and the certificate that says that just because I can afford to purchase this bike, its not ok to take advantage of others with less knowledge and more money than sense! Politeness is next to Greatness.....

Come on now, let's not counter one stupid comment with another one... I happen to have a certain "pommy bastard" (if you can call a woman that) in my life that wouldn't appreciate that comment. Neither do I.

and judging by his use of language, he isn't British anyway, just passing through!

FYI, I bath twice a year, if i need it or not. We try hard over here not to rip the piss out of our US 'friends', lets keep this 'clean'.

One bad apple does not spoil the barrel! There are good and bad both side of the pond. Let's leave it at that.

Sorry guys, I got carried away, I should not have used profanity like that. But it chapped my butt, to hear someone bragging about ripping off a person with such a magnificent machine. It's true I'm not British, just a convict from a colony, that just whipped the hide off the English in the Ashes tour. And I realise that personal hygene has improved, especially since Lucas stopped making hot water heaters. I have nothing against mixed marriges as my wife is a Southern Belle. Stewart.
