SW1500 on the SCL?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

Hey, I'm thinking of modeling the SCL in Savannah, GA almost over its entire life. I bought a SW1500 at the Savannah Train Show(A great show this year) and was going to strip it and paint it a different roadname but thought SCL might have had some but since there isn't any nice books like ACL: The Desiel Years out for SCL I thought I'd ask all of you guys. I know the SCL had some funky engines but just don't know what all they had.

Thanks! Jason

PS-Can someone join the Society at the meeting or do they need to be a member before then?

Jason - first things first, we're happy to take your membership at the Jax meeting, no need to join beforehand. For that matter, our meetings are open to nonmembers too, although of course we encourage everyone to join and enjoy the benefits of membership. Now to the SW1500s - SCL had none, although Family Lines partner L&N did. The only newer switchers SCL had were 45 MP15ACs (4000-4019, 4200-4224, all in Family Lines colors). Other SCL switchers were mostly first- generation EMD models, like SW7s and SW9s. Several Alco and BLW models were also on the roster for a while after the merger. For photos and other info, see Warren Calloway's SCL site, http://members.tripod.com/warren_calloway/.
