My cousin, now recently deceased, has given me most of the info on our family genealogy. He told me many years ago that our g-g-grandmother, Lucy MILLS,was Indian. She married George W. MANER and they had several children, one of whom was my g-grandfather, William A. MANER. I have not been able to verify this fact. Have checked in Raleigh and the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Thus far, all of his other info on our family has been verified by Census, church records, etc. Have a copy of the Albemarle Stanly Co. Centennial-1857-1957 which gives info on the Creek Indians. However, there were no names given as to families residing there. Can anyone help me?
