Francisco, greetings! To put it another way, what meat did this Alexander eat that he grew so great (in German: 'gross')? Most historians answer this question simply, saying that Alexander's many accomplishments in the sphere of military conquest earned him this honorific.

But there are minority views. One such was put forward by Dr. Tiffin G. Mandible, who postulated that Alexander was an especially large infant at birth and that when Olympias was informed that her son was at last born and had a head the size of a small soccer ball, she sank back wearily in her bed and said weakly, "Great!"

Another, since discredited, theory was that Alexander, being slight framed and self-concious of his size, took to wearing a huge overcoat with heavily padded shoulders, with his original nickname being Alexander the Greatcoat, later shortened to 'Great'.
