UPDATE ON CLEANING LOGAs you know I tried that cleaning log that you see on tv. Before I used it, the creosote at the top of my 25 ft. triple wall chimney, was built up and was a very hard glazed creosote about 1" thick around the inside of my chimney. Now this thick stuff was only at the top part going down about 6 in. into the chimney, if there was more like that further down, I don't know. I could not scrape it or brush it off, it was that hard and thick. The cover and screen were covered with the same. I put one cleaning log in about a month ago, (not sure about exact date), and I checked it last Fri. and I'm here to tell you it does work. All that hard creosote was turned to a crispy mass that all I had to do was take a small hand brush and rub off, it came of so easy it was unreal. Then I took my big brush and ran it down the chimney and I was done. Yes it does work and is worth the price. Just remember that if you have a elbow turn in your pipe... make sure you clean it out often because over a period of time in that month, I could hear creosote falling from time to time into my fire box. make sure you keep that elbow clean.
