EQUIFAX - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

Dear All,

My dad told me last night that, due to the problems encountered by people stealing other people's identity, Equifax have introduced a scheme whereby you pay £11 a year and if anyone asks for a credit check on you they come to you first to check you have asked for it.

This could be very useful to find out who is checking your file - and for what purpose!!

Hope this helps.

Afraid not. I asked them this question: Am I right in thinking that the Protective Registration scheme means I am notified before anyone can get details of my credit history and, also, that I will have a record of who has applied and why?

They answered: No. Protective registration is like a warning on your address to ensure that extra checks are carried out before credit is given. The lenders could contact you to verify that it is you applying for credit.
