Books on Chinatown

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I'm looking for some good books on the history of San Francisco's Chinatown and Chinese in SF in general.

Laverne Mau Dicker, curator of Photographs for the California Historical Society in San Francisco has collected a pictorial history entitled The Chinese in San Francisco"

The book is a glorious collection with sound comments accompanying the photographs. When it was new it sold for $6.00 and was published by Dover Publications in New York

Good luck in your research.

Don't forget to read up on Donaldina Cameron!

If you're in the city, you should look through Staceys Books' local history section. The SF Public Library is good, check out the Chinatown branch.
