i'm looking for a new Canon EOS 30/33 SLR camera, i understand that there was promotion a couple of months ago, and both when for under $1000 each .. anyone bought the camera recently? and knows what's the current price of them? where is the best place to buy it without getting rip-off?

I am a eos 30 owner. Purchased the camera in dec 2001 under the promo that you had mentioned above. I am not aware of there being any promo lately.

There a lot of used but mint ones floating around in the second hand market. For both new and used, try the Camera Workshop at Peninsular Plaza. Prices are reasonable and good; cheaper if you go for the imported versions (warranty would be by the shop rather than Canon).

Personally, i am intending to sell mine, mint with vertical grip. Intending to upgrade to a eos 3.

Halo... i hope this doesnt come too late... but you can try M.S. COLORS at ang mo kio... they offer a range of cameras and accessories at affordable prices... the owners are a bunch of honest folks and you should be able to find what you want there. =)
