Bit torrent is like a p2p sharing network. Except in bit torrent it forces you to share. So when u click a torrent file u save to a location on ur comp. It then "allocates" the file meaning it makes a file in ur comp the size of the file u are trying to dowload. Then it goes and searches for people with parts of the file or the whole thing and starts downloading. but it downloads in parts so u might have the begining and the end but not the mid or something like that. U never know exactly what parts u have until it says dl suceeded then u have the whole file.

Which sounds kinda sucky but apparently it works pretty work. Can it resume if your downloads crash?

Yes it does resume, even corrupt, incomlete files, downloaded from irc or elsewhere. Unfortunatelly it is not possible to resume bt- downloads with any application besides bittorrent. The forced upload sux, if you are on dsl or a slower connection, but running it as leech-only client would cause the bittorrent network a kazaa-like- slow, painful death. http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download.html is where you go to download it... it's very helpful. Saves you hours of waiting in IRC queue lines for the latest releases.
