order of a nuptual mass

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am getting married soon, and am creating the programs. I am planning on having a devotion to Mary. But I am unsure as to when that happens. Can someone give me a breakdown of the order of a nuptual mass?

Some may already know, and I'm sure others (myself included) will get researching that info for you, but please don't be offended if I point out that it is spelled Nuptial, even though we pronounce it nupchual. A mistake I've made myself, but one which you won't want on your programs!

God Bless, and congratulations.

Usually after the couple and congretation receive Holy Communion, the bride OR the couple together go over to the Blessed Mother altar and present a bouquet, say a prayer together to Our Lady, etc. That's how we did it at our wedding, and I've seen it done that way many other times.

Jamie,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Here's a couple ideas:

1) Devotion to Mary I believe there are a few points in the mass when you can do this (talk with your priest, of course). We did ours immediately after communion.

2) Breakdown of the order of the mass Here's a good book that we used to help us prepare for the wedding. Your Catholic Wedding by Chris Aridas.

God bless you,

Mateo

Another way of showing devotion to Our Lady involves using the Unity Candle.

The couple each has a taper candle lit, representing their individuality. Together they set the flames over the wick of the Unity Candle, symbolizing that the two flames have become one.

Some couples then extinguish the tapers, but they may also be carried to the Mary altar, or placed before a nearby statue of Our Lady, to show that the couple is United in Christ, and devoted to Mary.

Pax Christi.
