Elliot Erwin technique

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photographers Communicating : One Thread

Hello,

Does someone in the Forum know what lenses and film did Elliot Erwin used for most of his photographs. I've read that he uses a Leica M camera for most of his work, but I was wondering about the lenses and film. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Please realize that photographers change equipment many times over the course of their career. What Elliot Erwitt currently uses may be totally different from what he used last year.

An old book I have from the 1970's stated he used various equipment in his commercial work, depending on the job requirements. His personal photos were being done with a Leica M3 and older Leitz screw- mount lenses. I think he used 35mm, 50mm and 90mm lenses. The 50 and 90 were collapsible models.

I believe he mostly used Leica camera's, and a combination of Tri-X or HP5 and Microdol for processing. Although, I don't think that will help you take better pictures.

Good luck,

Nick.

I realise this thread is old.

This matter that Elliot Erwitt,or Cartier bresson or......,used from which lense or camera is the most unimportant thing. Power of their works is not depend on equipment, the most important things in their works is style ,their spacial style that they got from many years experience, psichology, sociology, visual art and etc. THis question is as same as : Deose someone know that Victor Hugo used from which kind pen and papers for writing nowel?
