There are definitely plenty of girls who like anime, although the majority of fans does seem to be male. Part of it might be girls don't want to admit that they like that stuff (I know I don't!), but sheesh, I'm a twenty-one year old woman and still enjoy Dragonball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho (which I "discovered" my senior year of college), so there. I downloaded BitTorrent just to get Inuyasha fansubs. There's an interesting book called "Manga Manga" by Schodt that explains that Japanese comics were written mainly for young male readers and that only later did the industry realize how profitable targeting girls and older women could be, but at this point I think both are pretty saturated and have also been drawing closer together (more action in the sappy girl stuff and bigger eyes/more romance in the guy stuff). Also, in general, men seem to be lamer than women--no, haha, just kidding. Oh, and good for you that you ate the chocolates.

Man i wish i would meet some women that like anime. I chat with one online va e-mail. That is like the only way to find women that like anime. Yu Yu Hakusho and G Gundam r the best shows. Do any of you women now an easy way to spot a women that likes anime. I know a lot of guys but i would like to talk to somone of the opposite sex for a change. Though i love talking to Rain Mikamura, my love and Queen of hearts. King of Hearts

i am the same way i would like to talk to girl to about but dbz and inu yasha are the best even thought the other two are very good

This is a fun riddle to figure out; telltale signs that a woman likes anime... How about hanging out in Barnes and Nobel and seeing what girls go to the science fiction section? Those two things sort of go together... Newbury Comics same thing if you've got one of those... Alternatively, you could make it obvious that YOU like anime and then a girl might approach you; for instance, you could have a T-shirt made that reads "Spirit Gun!" in the middle of it, and someone might get it. I sort of want a T-shirt that reads in small print in the middle: "Sankon Tessou!" If I saw a guy wearing anything like that I'd totally go start up a conversation with him.

Only very certain people seem to possess the anime "gene," and no amount of anime watching will convert someone without it. That at least has been my experience/observation. I have this one friend I'm always telling about Inuyasha ('cause you have to talk about these things with someone sometimes...) and even though she'll listen to me, she just won't connect with it, and I know that if I make her watch some of the early episodes with me, just to show her what it's all about, she won't see what I'm seeing. Whereas I...I was just channel surfing one day, landed on Dragonball Z, and got caught on it like fuzz on Velcro.

Oh, I came up with another way for a guy trying to find a girl who likes anime! It's fun coming up with this stuff. When you're out, for instance doing my Barnes and Nobel idea, looking at some pretty girl in the sci-fi section, start whistling or humming an anime melody. Something any anime-watcher would recognize, like the introduction to Yu Yu Hakusho or Dragonball, or the end of Inuyasha... You don't give yourself away at all if you do that, because she has to be a fan to recognize it and otherwise she'll just figure you've got a song stuck in your head.

I went to Barnes and Noble Yesterday but I didnt see any girls in the manga section... Maybe its just where i live.

-- Anonymous, March 30, 2003

You've got a manga section in your Barnes and Nobel? Sheesh! Where do you live? No way in the US... All these posts have me thinking someone's gotta start a decent site where local anime fans can find each other by region or something, 'cause my sci-fi section and T-shirt and whistling ideas are seeming increasingly questionable.

Have you ever heard of the game Evilzone for the PS?This game is alright. My favorite cartoons are DBZ,Gundam Wing,Nadesiko,Evangilion and Darkstalkers with also Cowboy Bebop. What are yours?

-- Anonymous, March 31, 2003

Inuyasha is definitely my favorite right now (and will be for a long time I think). Other than that, maybe Hellsing, Samurai Deeper Kyo ("Did you hear it? The voice of the wind..."), DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop (even though it's a little self conscious/glib I think). I haven't seen too many, though, watching an entire series is so time-consuming. Miyu and Utena were all right too, even though the first was kinda cheesy and the second lagely incomprehensible. I don't know anything about PS games (I stay away from them because I know that if I start a game I won't be able to rest until I've finished it).

I would hava to say my favs are. Ruruoni Kenshin, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, G Gundam and all the rest. I love all anime and could spend all day watchin them. If i didn't have to work or go to school.
